Tanks

This group collects the Armored Vehicles subcategory's tanks: main battle tanks, and the medium, light, heavy and cruiser tank classes that preceded the main battle tank concept, together with infantry tanks designed to accompany foot soldiers rather than exploit a breakthrough. With 70 attested members this is the largest subtype in the subcategory, spanning the tank's development from the first tanks fielded in the First World War through Cold War and contemporary main battle tank designs from multiple national arms industries. Self-propelled anti-tank guns and tank destroyers, which share a tracked chassis but not a tank's own turret and primary role, are classified separately under the sibling Tank Destroyers and Assault Guns group.
