Giulio Douhet was an Italian general and air power theorist whose 1921 book The Command of the Air (Il dominio dell'aria) argued that a nation that first destroys an enemy's air force and then bombs its cities and industry can break the enemy's will to fight from the air alone, without the stalemate of a ground campaign. This atlas cites him as the founding theorist behind its own Strategic Bombing Doctrine entry.
