The hook sword, also called twin hooks, fu tao, hu tou gou or shuang gou, is a Chinese weapon traditionally associated with northern styles of Chinese martial arts and with wushu weapons routines, though it is now also used in southern styles. Despite sometimes being presented as an ancient weapon, it is a comparatively recent design associated mainly with the late Qing dynasty and afterward, and it survives today chiefly as a training and performance weapon within Chinese martial arts rather than a battlefield-issued arm.
