The M6 bayonet is a bayonet developed by the United States military for the M14 rifle, and adaptable to other weapons, introduced in 1957 and issued from 1961, with its blade based on the World War II era M3 trench knife and its overall design drawing on earlier US bayonet patterns. It measures 11.75 inches overall with a 6.75 inch spear point blade and was carried in the M8 and M8A1 scabbards, manufactured between 1961 and 1969 by three contractors, Aerial Cutlery Company, Columbus Milpar and Manufacturing Company, and Imperial Knife Company.
