The M7 bayonet is a fighting knife and bayonet used by the United States military with the M16 rifle and later the M4 carbine and other assault rifles, carbines and combat shotguns. It was introduced in 1964 when the M16 entered service during the Vietnam War, and can also serve as a general-purpose utility knife.
