Clubs, maces, staves and weighted striking weapons used by warriors in antiquity and in traditional societies, from the Indian gada to the southern African knobkerrie and the Aboriginal Australian hunting club. A weapon belongs here when its cited article describes it as a club, mace, staff or weighted striking weapon. It excludes bladed weapons and spears, which sit in their own groups. Clubs are among the oldest weapons made and were used for hunting and fighting from Africa and Australia to India, and many carried status as well as force, as the gada did in Indian epics and warrior culture.
