Madsen machine gun

The Madsen is a light machine gun designed by Julius A. Rasmussen and Theodor Schouboe in Denmark and adopted by the Royal Danish Army in 1902, widely regarded as the first true light machine gun produced in quantity anywhere in the world. Manufactured chiefly by Dansk Rekyl Riffel Syndikat between 1902 and 1955 and sold in as many as twelve calibers to more than thirty four countries, it saw combat in over twenty conflicts across more than a century, including the Russo-Japanese War, both World Wars and the Portuguese Colonial War, with limited use continuing into the present day.
