The Maxim-Tokarev was the first Soviet-designed light machine gun accepted for service, created by Fedor Tokarev by adapting the Maxim M1910 machine gun and chambered in 7.62x54mmR. Produced at the Tula Arms Plant, it was designed in 1924 and officially adopted on 26 May 1925 after outperforming rival prototypes in trials.
