3M6 Shmel

The 3M6 Shmel is an MCLOS wire-guided anti-tank missile of the Soviet Union, given the GRAU designation 3M6 and the NATO reporting name AT-1 Snapper. Too large to be man-portable, it was typically deployed from specialized vehicles or helicopters to supplement traditional anti-tank guns whose accuracy fell off sharply beyond 1,500 meters, offering high accuracy out to its maximum range of 2,000 meters. Its bulk, slow speed and poor combat accuracy later drove development of follow-on SACLOS systems such as the 9M113 Konkurs.
