TY-90

The TY-90, meaning Sky Swallow-90, is a Chinese air-to-air missile developed specifically in the late 1990s for attack helicopter dogfights, rather than adapted from a man-portable missile as some earlier Chinese designs were, because converted man-portable systems proved inadequate for helicopter combat. It carries a 3 kilogram warhead designed to sever a helicopter's rotor blades with a single shot and offers all-aspect attack capability. It is used by China's People's Liberation Army Ground Force and has been exported to Laos, Mali, Mauritania, Pakistan, and Rwanda, integrated onto platforms including the WZ-551 armored personnel carrier and Dongfeng tactical vehicles.
