This relation records which armed force operates a given weapon system, connecting a piece of military equipment to the force that fields, maintains and deploys it in service. In a military context, materiel refers to the equipment, supplies and weapons an armed force needs to carry out its mission, distinct from its manpower, and a weapon system is fielded as part of that materiel by the force that owns and operates it. Reading this relation from a weapon system's page shows which force or forces operate it; reading it from a force's page shows the weapon systems in its inventory.
