Wars

This section is the top-level band for named wars, the atlas's entry point for a sustained armed conflict considered as a whole: its combatants, span of years and outcome. A visitor here is looking for the conflict itself, not one clash inside it, which is filed in the Battles and Campaigns section and reached from a war's own entries through their part-of edges. This atlas keeps the military-operational account of a war; the broader historical narrative of its causes and aftermath is History's own subject, linked back here by a same-as edge rather than duplicated.
