The ARAD is an AR-15-pattern assault rifle and carbine made by Israel Weapon Industries, named after the Israeli city of Arad and introduced in 2019. Though visually similar to the AR-15, it uses a short-stroke gas piston system closer to the AR-18 than to direct impingement, has a cold hammer-forged, chrome-lined barrel, and is built for quick caliber changes among 5.56x45mm NATO, 7.62x51mm NATO, .300 AAC Blackout and 6.5 Creedmoor; aimed mainly at export markets, it has been adopted by special forces and police units in countries including Argentina, Brazil, Peru and India.
