Automatgevär m/42

The Automatgevar m/42 is a Swedish semi-automatic rifle chambered in 6.5x55mm, designed by Erik Eklund of AB C.J. Ljungmans Verkstader in 1941 and manufactured by Carl Gustafs Stads Gevarsfaktori in Eskilstuna beginning in 1942. About 30,000 rifles were produced, and the weapon saw limited use by the Swedish Army from 1942 into the 1960s, remaining a secondary arm alongside the bolt-action m/96 Mauser, the primary infantry rifle of the day. An improved Ag m/42B variant with a stainless-steel gas tube was introduced between 1953 and 1956 before the type was replaced by the Ak 4 in the mid-1960s.
