The Labora Fontbernat M-1938 is a submachine gun of Catalan origin, designed in 1936 and produced from 1936 to 1938 at Factory No. 15 in Spain, with an estimated 1,000 to 2,000 units built. Chambered in 9mm Largo, it operates by blowback, weighs 4.38 kilograms empty, measures 806 millimeters overall with a 262 millimeter barrel, fires at 750 rounds per minute with a muzzle velocity of 397 meters per second, and feeds from a 36-round magazine with iron sights. It saw service with both the Spanish Republican Army and the Nationalist faction during the Spanish Civil War, and captured examples continued to see use with the postwar Spanish State.
