The Mannlicher M1886 was an Austrian straight-pull bolt-action rifle designed by Ferdinand Mannlicher and adopted by the Austro-Hungarian army in 1886, the first straight-pull bolt-action service rifle fielded by any nation. Manufactured by the Osterreichische Waffenfabriksgesellschaft at Steyr, it used a wedge-lock action and an early en-bloc clip feeding system, and was exported to a number of other countries before being superseded by rifles designed around smokeless powder.
