The Gepard is a Russian submachine gun developed by military unit 33491 together with JSC REX, first designed in 1995 and presented publicly in Moscow in 1997. It was created to address a shortage of 9mm submachine guns in Russian service. The weapon weighs about 2 kilograms, measures 640 millimeters (420 millimeters folded), and fires at a rate of 600 to 700 rounds per minute.
