The Second Franco-Dahomean War was fought from 1892 to 1894 between France, under General Alfred-Amedee Dodds, and the Kingdom of Dahomey under King Behanzin. French forces, aided by allies from Porto-Novo, defeated Dahomey and incorporated the kingdom into French West Africa, extending France's colonial holdings in the region.
