Mauser Model 1871

The Mauser Model 1871, also known as the Gewehr 71, was the first rifle in the line developed by Paul and Wilhelm Mauser and was formally adopted as Germany's standard infantry rifle on 14 February 1872. A bolt action, single shot rifle chambered for the 11.15x60R cartridge, it served as Germany's primary infantry arm until 1888 and remained in limited or foreign use, in various conversions, as late as 1945. It was supplied to or used by a wide range of other nations including Serbia, China, South Africa, Ethiopia, Uruguay, Japan, Korea, Ireland and the Ottoman Empire.
