Gasser M1870

The Gasser M1870 was an Austro-Hungarian revolver designed by Leopold Gasser and adopted by the Austro-Hungarian cavalry in 1870. It had an open-frame design with a right-side loading gate and rod ejector, and it became the standard cavalry revolver of the Austro-Hungarian military, produced from 1870 to 1919 chambered for the 11.3x36mmR cartridge. The design later became a cultural status symbol in Montenegro, where King Nicholas I mandated civilian ownership in 1910, and it spread internationally through immigration and smuggling during the Mexican Revolution.
