The Heckler and Koch Mark 23 is a semi-automatic, large-frame pistol chambered in .45 ACP, designed by the German firearms maker Heckler and Koch as a dedicated offensive pistol and entering service in 1996. It fires a subsonic load suited to suppressor use, is built to match-grade accuracy, and was tested to withstand tens of thousands of rounds without a barrel change. It was adopted chiefly by United States Special Operations Command, along with special forces units in Indonesia, Malaysia and Poland.
