Semi-Automatic Pistols

This is a child group of Pistols and Revolvers, collecting the Small Arms And Sidearms subcategory's semi-automatic, magazine-fed handguns: striker-fired and hammer-fired service and concealed-carry pistols, polymer-framed and short-recoil-operated designs, pocket and subcompact pistols, and modular pistol platforms. With 75 attested members this is the largest handgun subtype in the atlas, reflecting the semi-automatic pistol's dominance as the standard sidearm of modern military, police and civilian use since the mid-twentieth century. Revolving-cylinder handguns of any era are classified instead under the sibling Revolvers group, even where a design description also uses the word semi-automatic to describe a self-cocking revolver mechanism.
