The SIG Sauer P230 is a small semi-automatic pistol chambered in .32 ACP or .380 Auto, designed by Walter Ludwig, Hanspeter Sigg and Peter Blickensdorfer at SIG Sauer's branch in Eckernforde, Germany. It was imported into the United States by SIGARMS beginning in 1985 and was produced from 1977 to 1996, holding eight rounds of .32 ACP or seven rounds of .380 ACP, before being replaced in 1996 by the P232. It became popular as a compact backup or concealed-carry pistol.
