The Walther P99 is a semi-automatic pistol developed by the German manufacturer Carl Walther GmbH Sportwaffen of Ulm, designed by Horst Wesp to serve law enforcement, security personnel and civilian shooters. Development began in 1994 and the finished pistol was unveiled and put into production in 1997, replacing Walther's earlier P5 and P88 designs. It was chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum, .40 S&W and 9x21mm IMI, and Walther announced that production would end in 2023.
