The puska vz. 33 is a Czechoslovak bolt action carbine based on a Mauser type action, designed and built at Ceskoslovenska zbrojovka in Brno during the 1930s and chambered in 7.92x57mm Mauser. It replaced older Mannlicher carbines in Czechoslovak gendarmerie service starting in 1933, and more than 156,000 were made across variants, including a Vz. 12/33 version sold to Latin American markets and a Gewehr 33/40 version produced for Nazi Germany after the occupation of Czechoslovakia. Its lighter build compared with the standard vz. 24 rifle increased both recoil and muzzle blast when fired.
