This is a child group of Assault Rifles, collecting the Small Arms And Sidearms subcategory's assault rifles whose own record traces them to an Asia-Pacific country other than China, none reaching five members on its own within this split: South Korea (the Daewoo Precision Industries K1 and K2 and the Dasan Machineries DSAR-15 family), Japan (the Howa Type 89 and Type 20), Taiwan, Singapore, India, Indonesia and North Korea. The group spans a region whose own arms industries range from decades-old standard-issue service rifles to recent export-oriented and modular designs, grouped together here as a single Asia-Pacific bucket rather than as eleven single-country groups of one or two members apiece, each of which would sit well under this split's own working floor for a genuine subtype group.
