M1752 Musket

The M1752 Musket was a muzzle-loading flintlock musket invented in 1752 for the Spanish Army and, as the first standardized long gun issued to Spanish forces, remained in service across Spain's American colonies and homeland into the mid-19th century, when rifled Minie muskets replaced it. It used the distinctive Spanish miquelet lock, weighed 10.8 pounds, measured 57 inches overall with a 43.3 inch barrel, and fired a .69 caliber ball at 2 to 3 rounds per minute to an effective range of about 47 yards; Spain supplied roughly 10,000 to 12,000 of the muskets to American Revolutionary forces and it also saw use at the 1762 Battle of Havana and among indigenous peoples of the Americas, Haiti, Mexico and the Bruneian Empire.
