The 3M22 Zircon, also spelled Tsirkon and given the NATO reporting name SS-N-33, is a Russian nuclear-capable missile produced by NPO Mashinostroyeniya for the Russian Navy, launched from 3S-14 launch platforms aboard frigates and submarines. It is described as capable of a reported top speed of Mach 9, though analysts dispute this figure and describe its sustained flight speed as closer to Mach 5.5 to 6, slowing further before terminal impact. It entered service around January 2023 and was first used in combat during the Russo-Ukrainian war.
