The 9K111 Fagot is a Soviet wire-guided anti-tank missile system, known to NATO as the AT-4 Spigot. It fires a missile designated 9M111 using semi-automatic command to line-of-sight guidance, which means the operator must keep the integrated optical sight on the target while the missile flies and steers along a trailing wire. The system was designed in 1962 by the Tula Machinery Design Bureau and entered production in 1970. It was built as both an infantry weapon and a vehicle-mounted tank killer, and the weapon system weighs just over 25 pounds (11.5 kg). The missile is 120 mm in caliber, leaves the launcher at about 80 metres per second and reaches about 186 metres per second in flight, with a maximum effective range of roughly 2,000 metres. Improved versions followed: the 9M111-2 (Spigot-B) with better propulsion, range and warhead, and the 9M111M Faktoriya (Spigot-C) with an improved HEAT warhead, fired from launchers from the 9P135 family. It was widely exported and has been used by many Soviet-aligned and former Soviet states and by non-state forces such as Hezbollah.
