The ADEN cannon, formally the Royal Small Arms Factory ADEN cannon, takes its name from the acronym Armament Development, Enfield. It is a 30mm revolver cannon used on many military aircraft, particularly those of the British Royal Air Force and Fleet Air Arm, developed after the Second World War to meet a British Air Ministry requirement for greater lethality in aircraft armament. It fires electrically and operates fully automatically once loaded.
