Agni-VI is a proposed Indian intercontinental ballistic missile in the Agni series, described as under development by the Defence Research and Development Organisation for the Strategic Forces Command of the Indian Armed Forces. It is meant as the successor to the Agni-V and a precursor to the Surya missile, giving India's nuclear triad a longer-range second-strike weapon in line with its policy of credible minimum deterrence. Press accounts describe a four-stage missile with multiple independently targetable reentry vehicles and a maneuverable reentry vehicle, with a range reported between 10000 and 12000 kilometres, though DRDO has not confirmed the range. The article says the design was reported finished in 2025 and that the government had not yet approved the project, and on 30 April 2026 the DRDO chairman said the organisation was ready to proceed to full-scale development pending approval. Most figures come from news reports rather than official statements.
