Amogh carbine

Small Arms And Sidearms

The Amogh carbine is a select-fire personal defense weapon designed and manufactured by the Ordnance Factories Board of India. Its Hindi name means unerring. It is a derivative of the Excalibur rifle, which is itself a development of the INSAS rifle, and it was designed for close quarters operations. The infobox records an Indian origin, a design date of 2005 and service from 2008, a gas-operated rotating-bolt action with a closed breech, a cyclic rate of 700 rounds per minute and the 5.56x30mm MINSAS cartridge. The Ordnance Factory Board data page cited there gives an empty weight of 2.95 kilograms and 3.27 kilograms with a loaded 30-round magazine, and a length of 800 millimetres with the stock extended or 575 millimetres in its shorter listed configuration.
