The Advanced Short Range Air-to-Air Missile, known by its United States designation AIM-132, is an imaging infrared homing air-to-air missile produced by MBDA UK for close-range combat. It serves with the Royal Air Force, where it replaced the AIM-9 Sidewinder, and is designed to let a pilot fire and then break away before an opposing aircraft can close for a shot. The missile flies at over Mach 3 to ranges beyond 25 kilometers and retains 50 g maneuverability from body lift and tail control.
