Avangard, previously known during development as Objekt 4202, Yu-71 and Yu-74, is a Russian hypersonic glide vehicle carried as a payload on heavy intercontinental ballistic missiles. It can deliver either nuclear or conventional warheads and is claimed to travel at speeds exceeding Mach 20, entering service in 2019 with manufacturing tied to the Votkinsk Machine Building Plant.
