The Barrett XM500 is a gas-operated, semi-automatic, bullpup anti-materiel and sniper rifle chambered in .50 BMG, designed by the American firm Barrett Firearms Manufacturing around 2006 as a lighter and more compact alternative to the Barrett M82/M107 rifles. Its stationary barrel, rather than the recoiling barrel of the M82 line, was intended to improve accuracy, and it feeds from a 10-round detachable magazine; as of the most recent available reporting there is no public evidence it has entered regular production.
