Bear spear

A bear spear was a medieval type of spear used for hunting bears and other large animals such as boars. Its sharpened head was enlarged into a bay leaf shape, and a short crosspiece set just below the head limited how far the spear could penetrate an animal, keeping the animal at a distance from the hunter.
