The CAESAR (Camion Equipe d'un Systeme d'Artillerie) is a French 155 mm, 52-calibre self-propelled gun mounted on a 6x6 or 8x8 truck chassis, built by KNDS France, formerly GIAT Industries. It carries an automated weapons network with an inertial navigation system and ballistic computer, and can strike targets beyond 40 kilometers with standard ammunition and over 55 kilometers with rocket-assisted rounds. It entered service with the French Army in 2008 and has since been used in Afghanistan, Mali, Iraq, Syria and Ukraine, with additional operators including Indonesia, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and Estonia.
