The Caracal is a series of semi-automatic pistols produced by Caracal International LLC, a subsidiary of Tawazun Holding based in the United Arab Emirates, designed beginning in 2002 by Austrian firearms designer Wilhelm Bubits, previously the designer of the Steyr M pistol, working with UAE weapons experts. Designed in 2005 and in service from 2007, it serves as the official sidearm of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces and has also been adopted by military and security forces in Bahrain, Jordan, Algeria and Libya.
