The DF-31, given the NATO reporting name CSS-10, is a Chinese three-stage, solid-fuel, road-mobile intercontinental ballistic missile operated by the People's Liberation Army Rocket Force. It entered service in 2006 carrying a single thermonuclear warhead, with the extended-range DF-31A and DF-31B variants following in 2007 and 2017. The baseline missile has a range of roughly 7,200 to 8,000 kilometers, extended to about 13,200 kilometers in the DF-31A variant, and it launches from a silo or an eight-axle mobile transporter erector launcher.
