F-15 Eagle

The McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle is an American air superiority fighter with a secondary ground-attack capability, entering United States Air Force service in 1976 following its first flight in July 1972. The air-superiority versions of the Eagle have compiled a combat record of more than 104 aerial victories against no losses to enemy aircraft, a record built up first by the Israeli Air Force, which flew the Eagle in combat beginning in 1979 and extensively during the 1982 Lebanon War, and later by the United States Air Force, whose F-15s accounted for 36 of its 39 air-to-air victories in the 1991 Gulf War. The aircraft remains in front-line service with several air forces today even as the United States Air Force gradually transitions its older C and D model Eagles toward the newer F-15EX variant and the F-22 Raptor.
