Fauchard

The fauchard is a European polearm used from the 11th through the 17th centuries, consisting of a curved blade mounted atop a long pole with its cutting edge on the convex side only. It is believed to have evolved from the war scythe, and historical terminology around it was inconsistent, with the terms glaive and fauchard sometimes used interchangeably for similar weapons. Later, more elaborate ornamental versions of the weapon persisted into the 18th century.
