Flammenwerfer 35

The Flammenwerfer 35, abbreviated FmW 35, was a single-operator German flamethrower fielded from 1935 and used during the Second World War chiefly to clear trenches and fortified buildings. Weighing about 35.8 kilograms and carrying 11.8 litres of a petrol-and-tar fuel mixture called Flammol 19, it projected burning fuel roughly 25 metres and, ignited by a hydrogen torch, could sustain about 10 seconds of continuous fire. It stayed in German service through 1945 even though production ended in 1941, when the lighter Flammenwerfer 41 replaced it on the production line.
