The FN 5.7x28mm is a small-caliber, high-velocity centerfire cartridge developed by the Belgian firm FN Herstal for pistols and personal defense weapons, created in response to a NATO call for a replacement to the 9x19mm Parabellum. It is used in firearms including the FN P90, FN Five-seven and FN PS90, and by 2006 was in service with military and police forces in more than 40 countries; NATO formally adopted it as STANAG 4509 in 2021.
