The Grand Slam, formally the Bomb, Medium Capacity, 22,000 lb, was a 22,000-pound earthquake bomb designed by Barnes Wallis and used by RAF Bomber Command against German targets in the final months of World War II. Forty-two Grand Slams were dropped on Germany between 14 March and 19 April 1945, and the weapon stood as the largest conventional aerial bomb used in the war, a distinction it held until 1949.
