The GShG-7.62 is a Soviet four-barreled rotary machine gun developed by the KBP Instrument Design Bureau between 1968 and 1970, functioning similarly to the American M134 Minigun but combining propellant gas with an electric drive rather than relying on electric power alone. Firing the 7.62x54mmR cartridge at a rate of 6,000 rounds per minute, it entered service in 1970, originally for the Mi-24 helicopter, and remains in use today in the GUV-8700 gun pod and on flexible mounts for the Kamov Ka-29 helicopter.
