HB 876 mine

The HB 876 is a British air-dropped anti-personnel mine designed as an area denial weapon, delivered either through the JP233 runway-cratering and denial system or as part of the Hades variant of the BL755 cluster bomb. The cylindrical mine descends by parachute, rights itself on landing, and arms after a delay, and it can then be triggered if disturbed or set to self-destruct on a timer ranging from minutes to more than a day later; weighing 2.4 kilograms with 590 grams of explosive, it produces both a small shaped-charge effect and a fragmentation pattern. The Royal Air Force withdrew the HB 876 from service under international bans on this class of anti-personnel mine, destroying its remaining stock on 19 October 1999.
