Hisar (missile family)

Hisar, meaning Fortress in Turkish, is a family of short-range and medium-altitude surface-to-air missile systems developed by Turkey's Roketsan and Aselsan since 2007, with Roketsan building the missiles themselves and Aselsan supplying most sensors and electronics. The family includes the Hisar-A and Hisar-O variants, both in service since 2021, alongside the later Hisar-RF and Hisar-D designs developed through the 2020s. The system was built to give Turkey an indigenous short-to-medium air defense capability rather than relying on imported interceptors.
