Hyunmoo

Hyunmoo is a series of South Korean ballistic and cruise missiles developed by the Agency for Defense Development and built by Hanwha and, for the cruise missile variants, LIG Nex1 Defense and Aerospace, in service from 1987 to the present. The original Hyunmoo-1, a short-range ballistic missile with a range of about 180 kilometers retired in 2018, descended from the American 1960s Nike Hercules missile system, while later generations represent increasingly capable indigenous designs: the Hyunmoo-2 series extends range to 300 to 800 kilometers, the Hyunmoo-3 series is a family of cruise missiles reaching 500 to 1,500 kilometers, the Hyunmoo-4 is a heavy-payload bunker-busting variant with a submarine-launched Hyunmoo-4.4 version, and the Hyunmoo-5 is the latest ultra-heavy bunker-buster with a reported range of 3,000 kilometers and an eight-ton warhead, aimed partly at hardened underground facilities in North Korea.
