K-300P Bastion-P

Missiles And Guided Munitions

The K-300P Bastion-P, known to NATO as the SS-C-5 Stooge, is a mobile coastal defence missile system developed in Russia together with the Belarusian company Tekhnosoyuzproekt. Its main job is to attack surface ships, including carrier battle groups, convoys and landing craft. A typical battery combines one or two command vehicles, a support vehicle, four launcher vehicles that each carry two missiles, and four loader vehicles, with the launchers able to stand up to 25 kilometres from the command vehicles. Its missile is the supersonic P-800 Oniks, which uses a solid-fuel booster and then cruises on a ramjet, with a range of roughly 120 to 300 kilometres depending on the flight profile. The system has also been used against land targets, first reported in Syria in 2016, and has been deployed on the Kuril Islands, in Crimea and on the Black Sea coast. Variants include the silo-based K-300S and the Bastion-E.
