K-SAAM, the Korean Surface-to-Anti Air Missile, is a South Korean short-range ship-launched surface-to-air missile system built by the Agency for Defense Development, LIG Nex1 and Hanwha Defense. Designed between 2011 and 2018, it entered production in 2019 and operational service in 2021 despite a test failure in 2016 that was resolved by successful trials the following year. About 3.08 meters long, it flies at roughly Mach 2 out to 20 kilometers using fire-and-forget infrared and microwave guidance, replacing the RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile aboard Republic of Korea Navy ships such as the Daegu-class frigates.
